Report: NBC News is Set to Make Deep Cuts in its Dallas Bureau

MediaBistro's TVNewser is reporting this morning that NBC Universal is set to lay off some 500 employees -- including folks who work in NBC News' Dallas bureau. The network's been shuttering bureaus since the summer; Paris was the first to go, back in August. And in September, word was NBC would be moving its national operations into the KXAS-Channel 5 space, as the affiliate's owned and operated by the mothership. But the most surprising revelation this a.m. concerns the fate of NBC's Dallas reporter, Don Teague, pictured above, who MediaBistro says is being let go -- not long after he won an Emmy Award for his Katrina coverage. --Robert Wilonsky
