Speaking of economic development ...
Houston-based Rick's Cabaret, which already owns two gents' joints in Dallas, announced yesterday it ain't done in the DFW. Nope -- they're gonna build 'em a brand-new topless bar this close to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Supposed to be a "10,000-square foot building erected and furnished to Rick's Cabaret specifications" that, when all's said and done, should cost about $5 mil, including land acquisition.
Location's a bit vague in the press release: Highway 183, that's that. But Rick's spokesman gives Unfair Park the specific address, just in case of, ya know, emergencies: 15000 Airport Freeway, from which you can touch the airport with a two-mile pole. Says Rick's CEO Eric Langan, it's hard building a new topless club from scratch these days "because of strict zoning regulations," but the release notes what makes this location so special: "The property has already been zoned by the city of Ft. Worth for use by a sexually oriented business." Fort Worth -- always thinking ahead.
