The Texas Rangers' season is exactly two weeks old. But there are ominous signs, no?

Getting swept by the Yankees in New York isn't Apocalyptic. But mustering only eight runs in four games is troublesome. More so, the 5-7 Rangers have already blown two wins with their bullpen and kicked another away with their defense.

Let's not reach for the panic button just yet, but ...

Considering his shocking and unprecedented cocaine admission, I'm assuming manager Ron Washington is on a short leash. He doesn't have a contract for next season.

And, after all, the Rangers' play falls at his feet.

In summary, the Rangers aren't hitting, pitching (at least Frankie Francisco isn't) or fielding like a club ready to contend for a division championship. We can blame the absence of Ian Kinsler or the arrival of Clint Hurdle all we want, but when does the heat get turned up on the manager?
