Poor Mitt Romney finally says exactly what he's thinking and the guy gets hammered for it. You wanted specificity and numbers from the man? Well, as you no doubt heard, Mother Jones reported this week that he's plenty specific when talking to gatherings of his big-money contributors:

"All right, there are 47 percent who are with him [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... My job is not to worry about those people," Romney told a private gathering of donors in May.

There he is, simply calling half this nation what it is -- deadbeats -- and he gets his ass handed to him, politically speaking.

I say, damn the torpedoes, Mitt! Get even more specific and say exactly who these deadbeat parasites are. We all know them. In fact, the non-partisan Tax Policy Center tells us precisely who isn't paying federal incomes. Old people, mostly. Some impoverished working parents, too, but mostly old, greedy mooches.

"Three-fourths of those households pay no income tax because of provisions that benefit senior citizens and low-income working families with children," the TPC reports. In fact, the TPC reports that 44 percent of "tax units made nontaxable" -- that's techno speak for "parasites," apparently -- get away with it because of tax benefits for the elderly.

You probably know one of these leeches yourself. Buzz certainly did. I recall my own departed mother, whiling away her days in a bed in her nursing home, doing not a lick of work, living off savings and paying not a penny in income taxes. And don't get me started on our late mother-in-law, a non-income-tax-filer who spent her last weeks at Uncle Sammy's tit, lying in a hospital bed paid for by tax-paying souls like Mitt. At least, we know he paid some taxes in the past two years.

Surely there was some contribution the old broads could have made to the commonwealth. Why are we sending all these call-center jobs off to India when America has scads of old people just lying around, doing nothing but slowly dying? Let's get 'em Jitterbugs and put 'em to work. Got a question about IP settings on your new laptop? Don't call Mumbai. Call the Sunnyland Elder Care Facility, where aged American operators are standing by to give you the same level of service currently found overseas.

This is the sort of hard-nosed thinking this country needs to get the octogenarian set kicking in, Mitt. So don't back down. Double down and get after those old mooches.
