Stephen Broden Now Raising Hell in NYC With Quite the Black History Month Billboard

Why, only yesterday Stephen Broden was at Dallas County Commissioners Court, speaking up for former Elections Administrator Bruce Sherbet whilst quoting Scripture to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. But today, the New York media turns its attention on the man who tried last year to take Eddie Bernice Johnson's Congressional seat.

Broden, turns out, is the board member of a Dallas-based anti-abortion group called Life Always, which today debuted at the corner of Watts Street and 6th Avenue in SoHo the billboard you see here.

At this late date there's no need to recap Broden's views on abortion; Jim covered that extensively back in the fall. Besides, Broden reiterates his stance in the press release issued this afternoon: "During Black History Month, we celebrate our history, but our future is in jeopardy as a genocidal plot is carried out through abortion. We have seen the heartbreaking effects of opportunists who happen to be Black Abortionists perpetrating this atrocity; it's not just babies who are in danger, it's also their mothers, and our society at large."

New York city officials are, to put it mildly, displeased, reports The New York Times. One says, "A mix of intolerance and bad judgment put this ad up, common decency demands it be taken down." Says another quoted on Gothamist, "To compare abortion to terrorism and genocide is highly offensive." Broden tells the Manhattan media the billboard will be up for three weeks and that the intersection was chosen due to its proximity to a Planned Parenthood location. Oh boy.
