You knew it was bound to happen: Tonight, I officially join the Polyphonic Spree. Actually, it's a bit less interesting than that -- but at 8 p.m.-ish at the Magnolia Theater, I will be introducing members of the band, including frontman Tim DeLaughter, before a special screening of a South by Southwest-produced concert film in which the Spree get sprung. (Also in the movie: Peter Bjorn & John, The Bravery and Rocco Deluca, who I always thought was a chef in New York.)
Dallas is but one of four cities getting the screening, and word is the band'll show up at the West Village theater a little before the start time for some autographing. After that, sez my instruction sheet, I will intro movie, intro band and moderate a short Q&A with Tim and the Spree before the movie starts. Tickets are still available here, and if you wanna see what you're in for, the trailer's here. I believe they're also going to hand out CD singles of the song "Running Away," from the band's releasing-next-week The Fragile Army. So, see you tonight, right? --Robert Wilonsky
