SMU's athletic administration will take tackle its future by relying on the Dallas Cowboys' past--and not the recent past, but the waaaaay back past. The good past, that is. Steve Orsini will be announced this afternoon as the Mustangs' new athletic director, replacing the retiring Jim Copeland. Orsini got his start in sports when former Cowboys general manager Tex Schramm hired him as the team's ticket manager back in '84. He worked for the Cowboys until '94, when he began a winding career path that took him to Navy, Georgia Tech, Central Florida and, finally, back to Big D. Also on SMU's staff is senior associate AD Scott Secules, the former University of Virginia quarterback drafted by the Cowboys in the 6th round in '88. --Richie Whitt
