In its latest rankings of Best Sports Cities, The Sporting News today pegged our fair burg No. 3. Behind Boston (Duh) and Detroit (What? Oh yeah, hockey).
The list, however, is compiled by TSN Chief of Correspondents Bob Hille, whose ass I used to totally kick on the basketball court back when we were greenhorns at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Value it at your own discretion.
“The Cowboys are Super Bowl contenders, and the Mavs and Stars are top-notch, too,” says Hille, who has coordinated the rankings since ‘96. “TCU is a force on the college football scene, plus the Rangers bring an electrifying story like Josh Hamilton to the sports pages.”
So the question I ask you, Metroplex sports fans, is this: Will America’s third-best sports city boo Josh Howard tonight in the Mavericks’ preseason opener?
Huh, will ya? – Richie Whitt
