There appeared this morning the story that Tom Hicks was looking to score yet another soccer team -- AS Roma, to be precise. Hicks, of course, already owns Liverpool's famed club with fellow American businessman George Gillett. So it kinda made sense he'd want to keep growing his football portfolio -- especially since his U.S. sports teams kinda suck it.
Well, hold everything: Moments ago came word that Hick is not looking to buy AS Roma. At all. "There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in the rumor that Mr. Hicks is even considering investing in Roma football club," says Hicks' spokesman, Roy Winnick. On the other hand, now's the time to start spreading the rumor that Hicks is selling the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars. A boy can dream, can't he? --Robert Wilonsky
