I thought that some of you might be interested in the following analysis courtesy of our former State Democratic Executive Committeeman and Dallas County Democratic Party Chair and current nominee for the 95th Civil District Court, Ken Molberg:
In our last Presidential Primary in 2004, a total of 53,713 ballots were cast in Dallas County:
In-Person Early Voting : 12,503 23.28%
Mail In Early Voting : 1,029 1.92%
Election Day Voting : 40,180 74.80%
At the end of the day on Friday, the fourth of eleven in-person early voting days, 31,638 Democratic ballots had been cast. Accordingly, it is likely that the number of in-person early voters this year will exceed the total number of voters four years ago. While in-person early voting may well represent a higher percentage of the total vote this year, our turnout on Election Day will be unlike anything we've seen in a long time, if ever. I have no way to determine how many early votes have been cast in our precinct.
Let me assure you that all of us who will be working the polls on Election Day will do everything in our power to make the process as quick and efficient as possible... This might be a good time to vote early. If you vote on Election Day, you'll probably stand in a shorter line if you can come after 9:00 A.M. and before 5:00 P.M.
