I missed this on Saturday's Dallas Morning News editorial page. I am glad a good Friend of Unfair Park's did not:
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out It's bad enough that struggling Northwest Airlines Corp. is laying off some 1,000 machinists as well as members of other unions. But to make matters worse, the airline decided to send them off with a list, titled '101 Ways to Save Money,' as part of their exit package. The suggestions read like something from a Saturday Night Live sketch: buy jewelry from pawnshops, auto parts from junkyards, take dates on walks, and if you see something you like in the trash, don't be shy--dive in. We're dumbfounded that the airline would engage in such a thing, and we're saddened that employees would be subjected to such humiliation on their way out."
Irony, you are so fired. --Robert Wilonsky
