I've been told: Everybody loves lists, especially this one -- Forbes' annual countdown of the richie-richiest 'Merkins, which contains more than its share of locals, as usual. Tops, through, is a Fort Worth resident who I'm pretty sure lives in or just outside Mineral Wells -- Alice Walton, she of the Walmart Waltons, who comes in at No. 8 at a not-too-shabby $20 billion.
After that, it's the roll call of the familiar with a few new(-money) faces tossed on the pile: Andy Beal (at No. 43), Harold Simmons (No. 55), Ray Hunt (No. 62), Robert Rowling (No. 69 -- hey, now!), H. Ross Perot (No. 90), Trevor Rees-Jones (No. 110), Tim Headington (No. 135), Mark Cuban (No. 144), Richard Rainwater (No. 159), Sid Bass (No. 182), Jerry Jones (No. 187), David Bonderman (No. 221), Kelcy Warren (No. 221), Ed Bass (No. 269), Gerald J. Ford (No. 290), T. Boone Pickens (also at 290), Ross Perot Jr. (also at 290), Ray Davis (No. 308), Todd Wagner (No. 332), Kenny Troutt (No. 365), Sam Wyly (No. 385, for now) and Darwin Deason (also a 385'r), who's new to the list. Well, yeah.
