Weird game yesterday: Dallas rolls into its bye week at 6-1 after yesterday’s 10-point victory over the Vikings that felt more than 30. Didn’t it?
Tony Romo was 28 of 32 in the first half, yet somehow Dallas trailed by seven. The second half featured the Cowboys' first return of a blocked field goal for a touchdown since Too Tall Jones wore tight pants. There was Jason Garrett’s brilliant implementation of a no-huddle offense. Pam Oliver’s giant, distracting forehead. That irritating and superfluous Fox robot, always limbering up in the middle of the fourth quarter and solidifying its role as TV’s dumbest invention since “Scooter” the talking baseball, the blue-flame puck and Stuart Scott.
And then there were the Vikings, giving only 12 carries to Adrian Peterson and relying on a quarterback that has completed only 15 passes the last two week, just four more than Tom Brady has touchdowns.
After getting shredded by the Patriots, the Cowboys’ maligned pass defense gets credit. I guess. But now the real football begins with three consecutive NFC East games, the Eagles and Giants back-to-back on the road. The good news: The Cowboys should be getting help in the form of Tank Johnson on defense and Terry Glenn on offense.
Oh, yeah, and there’s You Betcha: Week 7.
Since we’re ol’ buds I know you’ll trust me on this. Friday was a little crazy with radio transactions solved and unsolved, but I foresaw Dallas covering the 9. Didn’t you?
I started with a mythical bankroll of $1,000, courtesy of Bodog sports online gaming. First, because their site is easy to navigate. Second, because they’re based in Costa Rica, and they’ve have had minimal success tracking me down in the past. I’ll analyze each Cowboys game and make a wager every Friday. With any luck, by Christmas it’ll be iPhones for everyone.
