Word's been circulating all day that the Arena Football League may be a goner -- at least, for the 2009 season. Though if it disappears for one season, insiders (and outsiders, let's be reasonable) figure there's no way it can claw its way back for a 2010 season. And various news reports have put some of the blame for the potential cancellation at the loafers of Jerry Jones, owner of Your Dallas Desperados: Says here that Ahmad Hawkins, the union representative for the Grand Rapids Rampage, claims that "the owners of the Colorado Crush and Dallas Desperados are the two teams pushing hardest to suspend league operations for 2009 and perhaps resume in 2010."

We've tried calling Desperados PR peeps, but have had no luck. They're still selling season tickets, though -- some, for 10 whole dollars a game. --Robert Wilonsky
