Good news for folks who're good with computers and stuff: If you're not working today -- which is to say, you're out of work and not just taking the day off to download current theatrical releases or browse for porn -- just wait till the beginning of 2007. You just might have a job waiting for you.

The new Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index and Skills Report is out -- I know, whew, right? -- and it says that 15 percent of chief information officers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are expecting to hire information technology professionals (your IT types, in other words) during the first three months of next year. (Which is to say 17 percent are gonna hire, two percent expect to fire, which adds up to 15 percent.) Why the increase? "A low unemployment rate, combined with continued strong demand for highly skilled professionals, is resulting in a need for IT specialists at all levels," says Robert Half exec director Katherine Spencer Lee in the company's press release.
