Over the weekend, a local TV-bizzer sent to Unfair Park this TV Guide piece about the future of TNT's Dallas reboot and whether or not it'll include one J.R. Ewing. Late last week, there was a report that Larry Hagman was out on the Cynthia Cidre-penned relaunch -- something to do with lack of sufficient funds. To which Hagman responded Saturday: What the what? Hagman, turns out, has no idea where that report came from:
"I hadn't heard about that, huh! That's really interesting. We were talking about money, but I didn't know it was going to come to a crashing halt like that. You got a scoop for whatever that's worth: Larry Hagman doesn't know what's going on!"Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray are said to be onboard; Hagman says, well, sure, sounds like fun to play with his old running buddies. But who knows. The other question remaining: Will they shoot the pilot and series in Dallas or New Mexico or Louisiana? Janis Burklund, head of the Dallas Film Commission, says she still doesn't know -- but there's a good chance the issue could be resolved before week's end.
Word is the producers are seriously looking at Louisiana, where the incentives are good. But the city of Dallas is set to make its offer this week, says Burklund, who says she'll let us know as soon as a resolution comes down. Still: a Louisiana-shot Dallas without J.R.? Why bother.
