I’m headed out to Arlington today to soak up some afternoon sun, take in the Rangers’ home finale and try – yet again – to decipher what went wrong with another baseball season.

News – courtesy the Fort Worth Star-Telegram – comes this morning that team president Nolan Ryan says both manager Ron Washington and general manager Jon Daniels will be back next season.
Oops.
This year’s team had its moments, but ultimately looks a lot like all the others since ’99. Maybe a second-place finish this season but, in the end, at least 13 games behind the AL West division champ for the eighth time in nine seasons.
Considering our expectations, is the emergence of Josh Hamilton and a better record than last season progress? Or merely the latest reincarnation of failure? -- Richie Whitt
