No. 83 Quatro Leches at La Duni

Our favorite food group actually is cake, and what cake is more ubiquitously mentioned in Dallas than La Duni's Quatro Leches?

While plain old word-of-mouth is enough to draw the masses to La Duni for their famously tantalizing and aesthetically beautiful Quatro Leches, the cake's numerous accolades and awards, i.e. being presented at both the French Culinary Institute and the James Beard Foundation Awards, add to its street cred. Layers of moist Mantecado sponge cake are soaked with a tooth achingly sweet tres leches sauce, and topped with a torched meringue frosting. The "quatro" in the "Quatro Leches" is a drizzle of Colombian Arequipe, or dulce de leche. Between the Quatro Leches and their equally tempting Nutella cake, it was hard to decide which deserved to be on the list. But on sheer popularity alone, the Quatro Leches takes the cake.
