About a month ago, Blue Fish Japanese Restaurant put a bite size version of its most popular item, the Ahi Tower, on its happy hour menu. According to Benny, a server at the Las Colinas location (925 W. John Carpenter Freeway), customer love ordering the Ahi Tower because it's "something different, like a salad" but still has tuna tartare in it.
Now, happy hour-goers who come in for a drink and a quick snack, instead of a seated dinner, can order the new "Mini Me" Ahi Tower for only $3 during happy hour (happy hour priced items are available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the bar area every day). Beware though, the tower really is mini; you'll only be able to get two bites max out of the tiny appetizer.
Benny says Blue Fish's top martinis are the Valentine and the Lychee martinis. The raspberries in the Valentine Martini make it "really refreshing...We sell a lot of them." Of course the martinis aren't as entertaining as sake bombs, another fave.
Leo Morales, general manager of the Blue Fish Las Colinas location explained that the restaurant goes through a lot of fish and sushi, and right now it's handling plenty of seasonal Copper River salmon. "We only get it in three weeks of the year," Morales says, and that the Alaskan fish goes fast.
The prices of the fresh food under "solids" and the drink specials under the "liquids" on the Blue Fish happy hour menu draw young professionals to the Japanese restaurant in the evenings. The restaurant also gets crowded during lunch when it offers 2-for-1 sushi with the order of a drink. What The Blue Fish Las Colinas doesn't attract is coupons, because it no longer accepts coupons from www.restaurant.com.
