Arguably the most beloved pizzaiolo in Dallas -- certainly a City of Ate favorite -- Jay Jerrier has suffered obstacles opening a brick-and-mortar version of his mobile Neapolitan pizza-making operation, Il Cane Rosso. But these will be over on Monday, February 14 -- that's right, Valentine's Day! -- when Jerrier will have his treasured pies for sale beginning at 11:30 a.m. Jerrier says they'll go until the dough runs out.

Just because Cane Rosso's first official day of business will be Valentine's Day, don't expect heart-shaped pizza pies. "We will not have a tricked-up fixed menu," Jerrier says. That means the Motorino (burrata, Jimmy's sausage, Calabrian chilies, friarielli and basil) and the Capricciosso (imported Italian tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, prosciuto cotto, mushrooms, olives and artichokes). If he hasn't gotten his the beer and wine license secured by Monday, a BYOB policy will be in place. There will be no corkage fee. Jerrier knows the way to our hearts.
