While Texans still have to trek more than 1000 miles for an In-and-Out burger, another California fast food chain this week is making good on its promise to open a greater Dallas location.
Carl's Jr. is opening its first stand-alone store tomorrow morning in Mesquite. While the restaurant already has half a dozen outlets from Rockwall to Denton, all of those stores are housed in truck stops.
Another Carl's Jr. will open in Carrolton next month, and spokeswoman Julie McLean says a Lemmon Avenue location's in the works.
"Texas is our primary focus right now," she says. There are currently 33 Carl's Jr.'s in Texas, but the company plans to open another 270 outlets over the next decade.
McClean says the chain's western-style burgers have been well-received in Texas.
"So far, so good," she says.
