Never ones to sit by and passively watch a tragedy unfold, some Dallas restaurateurs are rallying to raise money and supplies for Hurricane Harvey relief. Here's a rundown of the restaurants hosting fundraisers this week, and we'll update it as we learn of more. - Beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Aug. 29, Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum is donating 100 percent of the night's sales (both food and drink) to Houston flood relief efforts. It's even bringing back its infamous $1,000 bottle of Hidden Valley ranch, which food delivery service Caviar purchased last year when Cane Rosso hosted a similar fundraiser for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas. Cane Rosso will suspend delivery and to-go orders while dealing with what is expected to be a deluge of customers. If you can't make the fundraiser, Cane Rosso is also selling $50 raffle tickets — with 100 percent of the proceeds going to relief efforts — for a year of free pizza (one pizza per week). - In the Harwood district, Happiest Hour is hosting the Harwood Helps Happy Hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, with $4 off specialty cocktails and up to $3.50 off pints, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to hurricane relief efforts. The bar is also gathering donations of new underwear and socks (all sizes), nonperishable food, toiletries, feminine products, baby diapers, wipes and formula.
- Free Play in Richardson is donating 100 percent of its $10 admission fee from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, to South Texas food banks. Cashiers will also accept additional donations. The bar and arcade is hosting a Prairie Artisan Ales tap takeover that night and will also give away Free Play merch.
- Kate Weiser Chocolate is gathering donations that staff will deliver to the "mega shelter" at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Stop by the Kate Weiser Chocolate location at Trinity Groves by noon Friday, Sept. 1, to drop off donations of diapers, bottled water, blankets, men and women’s underwear, hygiene products, baby formula, baby wipes, socks, baby onesies, basic cotton T-shirts, sweat pants and Pack 'n Plays. For every case of bottled water you drop off at Kate Weiser, you'll get a free box of two chocolates.
- Fish City Grill locations are hosting a Cup of Hope fundraiser, in which the restaurant chain will donate an undisclosed amount of money to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts for every cup of soup sold. The Fish City Grill in Mansfield is also donating 15 percent of all sales Tuesday, Sept. 5, to hurricane relief efforts.
- Both locations of Monkey King Noodle Co. (Deep Ellum and Carrollton) are accepting donations that will be delivered to Trusted World, which has been working with the emergency shelters set up in Dallas. Monkey King is accepting donations of new underwear and socks (both adult and child sizes), toiletries and feminine hygiene products, baby diapers and wipes, and bottled water.
- All three locations of Emporium Pies (Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum and McKinney) are hosting a diaper drive. "We've heard that a specific need for displaced families is diapers and wipes of all sizes," Emporium posted on Facebook. "We are going to accept donations of diapers and wipes at all three of our locations this week, and we will make sure that they are delivered to the appropriate shelters for distribution."
- Here's your chance to eat some of the city's best barbecue for a good cause: Cattleack Barbeque is partnering with the Salvation Army and donating a portion of all their sales Thursday, Friday and Saturday to the non-profit.
- All week long, Winners BBQ in Plano is donating a portion of their sales to JJ Watt's YouCaring fundraiser. The restaurant is hoping to raise at least $5,000.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 29, Nora in Lower Greenville is donating 25 percent of dinner sales to the Red Cross.
- Local blog Central Track is organizing a one-night, city-wide fundraiser called #DTX4HTX. Participating bars and restaurants are encouraged to donate 20 percent of sales on Weds., Sept. 6 to the local non-profit Trusted World. Businesses that have signed on so far: Black Swan Saloon, City Tavern, Easy Slider, Independent Bar + Kitchen, The Nines, Candleroom, the bar and concession stand at Texas Theatre, Off The Record, Whisk Crepes, Bangkok at Greenville and Stirr.
- On Thursday, Aug. 31, The Eberhard is hosting Houston Relief Giveback Night. From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., a portion of proceeds will be donated to Houston flood relief efforts. The bar will have a couple specials running, too, including half-price bottles and $5 Crown and down spirits.
- Starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, Mockingbird Station bar The People's Last Stand is throwing a big 'ol party with donation-based men's haircuts and beard trims, hair and tattoo raffles, drink specials all night and will be accepting clothing and dry good donations.
- In Deep Ellum, Stirr is collecting donations — from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. — for people who've evacuated to the "mega shelter" at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, and the bar is donating 20 percent of sales on Wednesday, Sept. 6 as part of #DTX4HTX. Milkshake Concepts' other restaurants will be donating 20 percent of sales as well: Citizen will raise funds from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 and Nikkei will do the same from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1.
- For the entire month of September, Full City Rooster is donating 10 percent of all coffee beverage sales to Hurricane relief efforts.
- At Casey Donahew's Wednesday, Aug. 30 show at The Rustic, the musician will have an empty trailer ready to be loaded with donations of diapers, wipes, soap, tooth paste/toothbrushes and hygiene packs. The trailer will be parked at The Rustic all day.
- Following in Cane Rosso's ultra-generus footsteps, both Double Wide and Single Wide will be donating 100 percent of sales to disaster relief on Thursday, Aug. 31. Could there be a better reason to fill up on YooHoo Yeehaws?
- From 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, Cultivar Coffee in Oak Cliff will be hosting a silent auction filled with gift cards from local restaurants and artwork from Dallas artists. All the money raised will go to flooded Houston-area coffee shops and Southeast Texas coffee professionals who've been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
- Chefs' Produce Company is filling a truck with donations and driving it to Houston on Friday, Sept. 1. Drop off donations at their warehouse (1654 Terre Colony Ct.) before they hit the road Friday. What you can donate: diapers, baby wipes, formula, toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, non-perishable food, water, Gatorade, gift cards and cash.
- Noble Rey Brewing is getting in on the Harvey relief action, too: "From 8-28-17 until 9-14-17 (National Giving Day) we will be donating a $1 from all Sex in a Canoe and Tactical Combat Firefighter pints we sell in our taprooms as well as a percentage of all 6-pack sales to the American Red Cross," says Eva Magaña, Noble Rey's event coordinator. "We are also giving a free pint to anyone who brings in these items: diapers, baby wipes, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, nonperishable foods, underwear and socks."
- Sandwich Hag in the Cedars is also accepting donations that will go to North Texas shelters. What they're looking for: new socks; new warmups for men, women, children and infants; pillows, pillowcases and blankets; flip flops for showers; towels and washcloths; toiletries and hygiene products; baby formula and baby wipes, bottles and diapers; Graco Pack n’ Plays for babies to sleep in.
- All week long, Fearing's is donating 10 percent of all happy hour sales to hurricane relief efforts. Is there a better reason to grab a cocktail after work? We think not.
- On Thursday, Aug. 29 at Craft & Growler, $2 from every beer sold from 6 p.m. to close will be donated to hurricane victims.
- Henderson Tap House will be collecting supplies to donate to Trusted World (relevant supplies listed above), and the Henderson Avenue sports bar believes "sports brings people together, so we decided to utilize our strength of business to generate a victory for those of the Houston and coastal areas." From Thursday through Sunday, the bar will donate a portion of its sales generated during the following games:
7 p.m. Thursday: Cowboys vs. Texans
5:30 p.m. Friday: USMNT vs. Costa Rica
11 a.m. Saturday: Texas Longhorns vs. Maryland
6:30 p.m. Sunday: Texas A&M vs. UCLA - On Friday, Sept. 1, RJ Mexican Cuisine will donate 15 percent of dinner proceeds to hurricane relief.
- 100 percent of all proceeds from Sunday night's ticket sales at Dallas Comedy House will be donated to Dallas County Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster, and they're also hosting a food drive. More details about DCH fundraiser are available at their website.
- All open Texas Freebirds World Burrito locations (there are 62 in Texas, with several in DFW, but many locations in Southeast Texas are closed due to flooding) are collecting donations of canned goods and water bottles to be donated to area food banks.
- On Tuesday, Sept. 5, all Kung Fu Saloon locations (including the one in Uptown Dallas) will donate 50 percent of sales to Harvey relief efforts.
- For every bottle of juice purchased Saturday, Sept. 2, Buda Juice will donate $1 to Feeding Texas.
- Over in Addison, Bitter Sisters Brewing Company is donating 10 percent of sales on Sept. 1 and 2 to the Red Cross.
- Sushi Zushi is also accepting donations for Dallas shelters (see listed items above), which they will donate to Trusted World.
- Oak Highlands Brewery will donate 10 percent of the sales plus all tips from our Sept. 29 (5-9 p.m.) family night. "The event is family friendly and we will have food trucks, games, soda, beer, White Rock Tumble with a free tumble course and lots of family fun. Entry is free."
- All Texas CRU Food & Wine Bars will be donating 50 percent of all brunch entree sales this Sunday, Sept. 4 to the Red Cross. Both Texas Princi Italias will also be donating 50 percent of all brunch entree sales this Sunday to the Red Cross as well.
- Ojeda's in Dallas is donating 10 percent of all sales on Thursday, Aug. 31.
- At SusieCakes, $1 from each red velvet cupcake sold Sept. 1-4 will be donated to the Red Cross.
- Poor David's Pub is hosting a fundraiser noon to midnight Sept. 2, with live music and donations at the door going to the Salvation Army and Red Cross.
- "Rusty Taco in Denton is coming together with other local businesses on Thursday 8/31 to donate funds to Hurricane efforts. We will be donating 20 percent of all sales on Thursday."
- All Norma's Cafe locations are drop-off points for Harvey donations. They're collecting donations for Dallas DogRRR, Trusted World and Dallas ISD. "We're working closely with the Red Cross to feed volunteers and evacuees and may have further updates on ways to help once they get past the initial rush of things," a representative from Norma's said. "Dallas DogRRR also came back from the Houston area late last night and has about 100 cats and dogs that they will need fosters for. They're slammed right now as the organization is made up completely of volunteers. If people are interested in fostering, they should go to www.dallasdogrrr.org and follow the Harvey instructions on the homepage."
- Wednesday, Aug. 30 through Wednesday, Sept. 6, Moxie’s Grill & Bar will donate 20 percent of profit to the American Red Cross in support of hurricane relief efforts.
- Chefs for Farmers is donating 20 percent of all ticket sales between now and Sunday, Sept. 3 to hurricane relief effort.
