You're going to drink anyway — might as well do it for the kids. This Friday, Community Beer Co. will host a Medical City Dallas fundraiser benefiting the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center. Every $20 ticket includes three beers, a brewery tour and access to a silent auction.

Eleventh anniversaries are weird. They tend to ride the coattails of 10-year anniversaries. Rahr and Sons' 11th anniversary sounds a bit more promising, however. The two-day celebration features the debut of a new anniversary beer: Russian imperial stout with toasted coconut. VIP tickets include a beer tasting, an obligatory commemorative pint glass and live music. Food trucks will also be on site.

Hide your cows, the Steak Cookoff Association is in town. The association, in conjunction with Billy Bob's Texas, is bringing the World Steak Championship to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Over 60 teams will compete to see whose boeuf is the best — and to win up to $7,500. This event is free and open to the public, but steak sampling tickets are $40 per person.

Do you like coffee or tea? Do you like cats? Do you like the idea of being able to play with cats while drinking one of the aforementioned beverages? Do you not mind having to potentially pluck cat hair from your beverage of choice after having underestimated both the need for a lid and the degree to which tabbies shed? If so, we have an event for you. The Muffinmeow Pop-Up Cat Cafe will feature coffee, tea and several adoptable cats. The first day of this two-day event is sold out, but the second day is free and walk-ins are welcome.

October is almost over, yah? Which means you need to fill your belly with German beer while the getting is good, yah? Plano hosts its first-ever Oktoberfest this Sunday. This being Plano, though, they aren't calling it Oktoberfest. Instead, it's been given the rather glassware-centric title of "Steinfest." The only thing they've changed is the name, though, for there will still be all the accordion music, German food and beer you've come to know and love. The event is free and open to the public.

This weekend, Chefs for Farmers features two fun events. First up is the Chefs for Farmers Butcher Block Party. Held at The Joule, this event is all about the meat. Over a dozen chefs will exhibit their mea-tastic dishes. In addition to all of the butcher-inspired offerings, participants can enjoy local beer, wine and cocktails. Tickets start at $125.
The second event on our Chefs for Farmers radar is the Culinary Village Main Event on Sunday afternoon. This all-you-can-eat fest includes a beer garden, biscuit bar and a Champagne and oyster station, and 2,500 people are expected at Buffet of the Gods. Tickets start at $75 per person.
