It's confirmed: Cody Sharp, a local rising star chef who left the Standard Pour last fall to hop on board with Filament and FT33's Matt McCallister, is out as executive chef of Filament. McCallister tells The Dallas Morning News that Sharp is leaving to "to go fund-raise and work on his projects." DMN also reported that executive chef Kyle McClelland and pastry chef Annika De Paula Loureiro both left Vicini American-Italian Kitchen in Frisco. [Escape Hatch Dallas]
So far, Cultivar Coffee has always existed within other entities — they have locations inside Goodfriend Package in East Dallas, Hypnotic Donuts in Denton and will sell coffee at the new SusieCakes location coming to Preston Center. Now, the fast-expanding local coffee shop is opening its first stand-alone location on a trending street in Oak Cliff: Jefferson Boulevard, also home to the Texas Theatre, Small Brewpub and Carnival Barker's.

Cultivar Coffee Bar & Roaster opens April 11 at 313 W. Jefferson Blvd., according to a press release, and will collaborate with local bakeries for a "toast program" in the mornings that will transition into sandwiches at lunch. Cultivar is also collaborating with a local preserve-maker and dairy, according to the release.

Cultivar's first location was inside Good 2 Go Taco, a space they vacated when moving across the street to Goodfriend Package. Austin soft serve-slinger Cow Tipping Creamery, bought by Cane Rosso's Jay Jerrier, recently opened in Cultvar's old spot at Good 2 Go Taco.
Bust out your canvas bags, Richardson, because Whole Foods Market Cityline is opening Wednesday, April 13, at 1411 E. Renner Road. Along with the typical Whole Foods Market offerings, shoppers can sip one of 16 craft beers on tap, fill growlers, special order a keg, have espresso or grab a bite from a self-serve taco bar, according to a press release.
Things are coming together at Deep Ellum Brewing's new taproom and kitchen, slated to open at the end of this month, according to an Instagram post. They're currently hiring kitchen staff and beertenders for the new taproom.
Speaking of Deep Ellum, Central Track is reporting that the team behind Off the Record and Club Dada are bringing something new to the neighborhood: the Independent Bar & Kitchen, slated to open across Main Street from Drugstore Cowboy. The Independent will serve "European-inspired comfort food," according to Central Track. Chef Andrew Dilda — formerly of Forth Worth spots Barter, Reata and Woodshed — is executive chef, according to CultureMap.
Continuing the trend of everything-happening-in-Deep-Ellum-or-Oak-Cliff-always, Armida Ortega's Kessler Pie Co. is finally opening a storefront in Oak Cliff this spring, according to CultureMap. After years of selling pies online and at events like the new Oak Cliff Farmers Market, Kessler Pie Co.'s storefront will open at 416 N. Tyler St.
