It's hard to believe Bolsa has only been open for a year, as it already feels like a Dallas institution for locavores and  those who enjoy fascinating food creations at reasonable prices. It's gotta be true, though, as the restaurant will celebrate its first year of business with "Bands, Bruschetta, Burgers, Bottles & Beer" 4 p.m. Sunday at the "Bolsaveursary." OK, so maybe the food isn't overwrought, but that name certainly is. Forgivable offense, though, considering that the event will include performances by Theater Fire, The Deathray Davies and The Happy Bullets--three of the area's best bands. Proceeds will benefit La Reunion, a planned artists residency in Dallas.

As if that weren't enough for the weekend, Bolsa co-owners Chris Zielke and Christopher and Jessica Jeffers will also celebrate the Grand Opening of their new barbecue joint, Smoke, Friday in the Belmont Hotel in the restaurant space that used to be the Cliff Cafe. None other than Kinky Friedman will serve as MC, and the night includes music by Slobberbone, Sarah Jaffe, Shoot Low Sheriff, Spooky Folk and DJ Repo. Oh, and food too, with free samples of chef Tim Byres' new menu.
