One Arts Plaza will be throwing its first annual block party this Sunday, April 18, with live cooking demonstrations and live musical performances from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Throughout the day you will be able to see different One Arts Plaza restaurants preparing their favorite dishes. Starting the day off is Screen Door's chef David McMillan hosting Grill Work 101. He will be demonstrating how to prepare the classic North Carolina pulled pork barbecue sandwich. Also, Jorge's Tex Mex Café will be there with their popular breakfast chorizo tacos and Chile relleno lampraido, along with Fedora Restaurant & Lounge demonstrating everything from crawfish springrolls to andouille vinaigrette.
We should probably mention that there will also be bartenders from each of the restaurants concocting cocktails like the El Jalisco margarita from Jorge's and Screen Door's mint julep. You can also stop by Dali Wine Bar and Restaurant for wine sampling and flights for purchase on their patio. Oh, and the One Arts Plaza event is free. Yes, free.

We decided to join in on all the food fun this week and throw our own dining event, the 4th Annual Wine & Dine at Fashion Industry Gallery this Wednesday, April 14. For $25, you can taste cuisine from Kenichi, Restaurant AVA, Afghan Grill, and many more places, along with wine and spirit sampling. The day has finally come, taco lovers! Rusty Taco will be opening their doors today for customers to stop by and enjoy $2 tacos with a margarita or beer. The owner, Rusty Fenton, isn't exactly new to the dining scene--he's one of the co-founders of the popular restaurant chain Uncle Julio's. The new taco joint is located off Greenville Avenue in the old Just Brakes building.
This Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17, is the 18th Annual New Vintage Wine & Gallery Trail. The two day event will feature two jazz wine trains, ceremonial blessing of the vines and new release wines, a wine trail, and other wine-related activities. Country singer and Garth Brooks' better half, Trisha Yearwood, will be visiting Plano this Friday, April 16, when she stops by Sam's Club to sign her new book Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood.
