Peticolas is throwing a -- just stay with me -- wedding to celebrate its one-year anniversary. Local girl Ali Kay has evidently found nary a warm soul that brings her more happiness than a tall pint of Velvet Hammer, so she's marrying it. The "hoppy" day is December 30, at 1 p.m.

Additionally, founder Michael Peticolas will show off his new expansion project that doubles the space of his brewery. From the Peticolas blog, "We brewed our first batch of beer on December 30, 2011. What'd we brew? The Velvet Hammer. So, we decided to throw our biggest party yet to commemorate our one-year anniversary."

Michael notes that his brew Velvet Hammer has taken on a life of its own, and according to its own Facebook page, is currently "engaged" to Kay. To help celebrate the anniversary and union, they're hosting a shindig. And tickets are going fast. This is your warning.

For the party, there will be pours of GABF gold medal winner Royal Scandal, Great Scot! (one keg will be on tap), Golden Opportunity, Wintervention and a vanilla bean Velvet Hammer cask.

The party is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and there will be live music as well as food trucks. The celebration of Velvet Hammer being in our lives for one full year takes places at their brewery at 2026 Farrington St. and tickets on Event Brite are $15.
