If that raw juice cleanse just isn't cleansing enough after the debauchery of the past few weeks, then Hypnotic Donuts has got an event you might be interested in. This Sunday, January 5, they'll line their toes along the edge of the pool at the Fraternal Order of Eagles (8500 Arturo Drive) for the second annual Polar Plunge, to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

Nothing like an invigorating dip amongst friends and strangers in nippy 35-degree-ish weather. Hypnotic, an artisan doughnut shop on Garland Road in East Dallas, likes to keep things interesting with not just pastries but also slightly maniacal events like the World's Spiciest Donut Eating Contest that involves ghost pepper icing and a 5K Donut Dash, which is later this month.
And Mother Nature must love doughnuts (why wouldn't she?). She's scheduled a cold front to sweep through the area for just in time for the event. Local weather god Pete Delkus reports that while North Texas will experience a surely amazing 68 degrees the day before the Polar Plunge, temperatures will plunge on Sunday with a high of only 41 degrees.
Attendees, swimmers, polar bears, doughnut aficionados and those inclined toward self-punishment are encouraged to make a $10 donation, with all proceeds going to the NTFB.
After jumping in the frigid water, you'll swim the length of the pool. Then you can partake in food and drink, which will be available for purchase.
There's no registration. Just show up with at least $10 cash. We're thinking there might be waivers involved at some point.
