Oh snap! Pizza Hut is trying to steal some thunder from IHOP by giving away free pizza on National Pancake Day. Now all day we'll argue with ourselves, "Pizza! No, pancakes! Well, maybe pizza. No, pancakes! Both!"

Both, of course. Always go for both.

IHOP gives away free hotcakes on this day each year to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. This year the goal is $3 million. Since IHOP started this campaign in 2006, they have raised more than $10 million for community charities. That's a lot of pancakes. The specifics are that you get a short stack on the house, and they kindly ask you to consider leaving a donation. Easy enough.

Or, if you're not feeling it with the IHOP situation, here are a few others to consider.

Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes at Smoke Even though they're a member of our 100 favorite dishes community, pancakes at Smoke seem ... well, just wrong. Right? But, don't let the restaurant's tendency towards smoke and meat fool you. The brunch is one of the finest in the city.

The Pancake Sampler at Oddfellows Have one of each: gingerbread, red velvet and berry chocolate chip. They take things pretty slow at this open-spaced spot in Oak Cliff, but there's ample people-watching and great coffee to sip on.

The Danger Dogs at Jonathon's in Oak Cliff Back in the day, whilst dining at Denny's we called the "Pigs in the Blanket," but Jonathon can call them whatever he wants. All of the breakfast plates there are a glutinous and glorious.

The Dutch Baby at The Original Pancake House At the Addison location, not only can you get from-scratch pancakes, including the air puffed Dutch Baby, they also serve a pretty serious cup of Cuvee coffee, which is a small-batch roaster based in Austin.

Big Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes at AllGood Cafe Served with real maple syrup and bacon, of course, this Deep Ellum spot is oozes an Austin hippy aire. They source of lot of fresh and local ingredients, so it's basically like eating out on the farm.
