The Katy Trail Ice House Outpost in Plano at 4700 W. Park Ave. has been dabbling with a soft opening the past week, however they're now ready to go all in. This second KT Ice House location, in the old Bandito's spot, is an off-shoot of the popular Uptown restaurant with the same outdoor-oasis feel, replete with lots of trees (they brought them in), cold beer and barbecue.
The major differences are no quibbling with neighbors about noise (hopefully), nor passing joggers on the actual Katy Trail.
This week the Outpost will celebrate their grand opening by hosting a craft brewery each night along with some drink specials, including $3 drafts from the featured brewery: Monday is Shiner night; Tuesday, Rahr from Fort Worth; Wednesday, Franconia out of McKinney and Thursday Deep Ellum Brewing Co. from Dallas.
The menu at the Outpost is the same at the original Katy Trail Ice House with bar food including jalapeños bottle caps, steak house onion rings and nachos. For bigger plates there are fat burgers, a variety of sandwiches and a few salads. And of course the requsite barbecue: ribs, briskets, chopped beef sandwiches, sausage plates.
Should be a party.
