With the recent boom in North Texas craft brewing, a handful of Dallas restaurants have tackled the movement by offering things like beer dinners, tap takeovers and launch parties.
Well, now Dallas is about to get its first restaurant that has put craft beer first. LUCK is a craft beer inspired kitchen and bar concept that just signed on the dotted line last Friday to be part of the annex development at Trinity Groves.
LUCK is an acronym for Local Urban Craft Kitchen. Founder Jeff Dietzman, who has worked at Central Market to quell his foodie ambitions but is also an electrical engineer, describes the spot as "salt of the earth, regional comfort food."
The menu will have regional dishes from around the country with a Texas twist: like a Kentucky hot brown transformed into a North Texas hot brown; shrimp and grits with a Creole sauce; local beer-smoked chicken and country style ribs.
LUCK will source from local purveyors as often as possible, and a 40-tap beer wall will feature strictly North Texas breweries.
"It's really about the spirit of cooperation in the Dallas beer and dining scene," Dietzman says.
The beer theme even extends to dessert; LUCK will have a seasonal beer ice cream.
Dietzmans's cousin Daniel Pittman, who has previously worked at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas and eatZie's, will man the kitchen. The other partners include Ned Steel and Jennifer Smith-Pittman.
They hope to open in June or July.
