Heard of Mama Fu's? You will soon. They're set to open 14 new restaurants across Dallas and Collin counties over the next several years.

This fast-casual Asian-inspired chain is based out of Austin (Murphy Adams Restaurant Group). The local units are being brought to the area by MFDC Partners, which includes Rose and Rob Colarossi (Egg and I Restaurant), and Daniel Avery and Tao "Echo" Liu, who own several businesses in Shanghai and are moving to Dallas.

Mama Fu's specializes in Asian flavors in a "flex casual service model" that offers a casual approach to lunch, then a transition to a full service dinner. There are 13 restaurants in the United States, with about half of those in Austin. An additional 63 locations are in various stages of development.

The large menu includes all the Asian basics and then some. At quick glance: General Fu, teriyaki, red Thai curry, Thai cashew stir fry, Singapore noodles, Vietnamese crunchy noodles, pad Thai, Thai basil. Seared ahi tuna steak and a flat-iron steak are also among the options.

Earlier this year Mama Fu's was awarded a "Menu Trendsetter" award for their Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich and flex-causal service model.
