Sigh, Reddit. You certainly are two kinds of crazy.
Yesterday NewlyConvertedFan posted on Reddit:
"A dove slammed into my house, breaking its neck. So I grilled it."
He even documented it on his personal website, which appropriately enough is called Nose to Tail at Home. So, this wasn't merely a whimsical idea, but more of a living philosophy for this guy.
He writes, "I really need to acquire a hunting license. Doves are totally worth the hassle."
Which does bring up a good question, is it legal under Texas hunting laws to cook fowl that flies into your window, whether or not it's dove season?
Here's a FAQ on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department that answer the question:
Q1: A deer has been hit on the highway, what do I do?A1: If the deer is just injured call your local game warden dispatcher. If you are absolutely sure the deer is dead, you may move it off the roadway and leave it there. Texas Department of Transportation will remove the dead animal. It is illegal to tag the deer (or any game animal for that matter) and take it with you.
"Or any game animal for that matter."
But, you can always make fluffernutter sandwiches. Those are always legal and don't involve dead birds.
