Each week, Happy Eating highlights a different restaurant happy hour food menu. This week, we do a seafood restaurant on the cheap at McCormick and Schmick's.
Where: McCormick and Schmick's, 307 NorthPark Center When: 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.-close Monday-Friday The Scene: Chain Irish seafood restaurant, so lots of green and lots of dark wood. Stray middle-aged men waiting on their wives to finish up their shopping and a few couples taking advantage of McCormick and Schmick's very reasonable deals. Happy hour is in the bar only. The Deal: The menu consists of $1.95, $2.95, $3.95 and $4.95 priced eats. There are also daily specials such as Thursday's $1 fish tacos. Happy hour items include spinach dip, hummus, pizza, brisket sliders, barbecue pork sliders, chicken quesadillas, wings and Guinness-steamed shrimp. The Steals: The half-pound cheeseburger and fries for $2.50. Hands down. The Con: Aside from the drab setting, there's not much about which to complain. Eat: For $4.95, the mussels aren't bad. Skip: The andouille sausage and shrimp pizza. Just say no. Lushworthy: The Godfather. We've always been fans of this drink, but McCormick and Schick's actually has it on their happy hour specials menu. As fake SNL Miley would say, "Pre-ty cool."
The bottom line: McCormick and Schmick's competes with Kona Grill for having the vastest selection in the mall -- but with an older crowd and a less chaotic scene.
