We've been on hiatus, but now we're back to give you the scoop on restaurant openings and closings in October. It's been a slow month for restaurant openings, but the future looks bright. California chain Fatburger announced this week that they're in talks to open 10 stores in Dallas within five years. That adds one more West Coast burger chain setting up shop here in North Texas. But before the hyped fast-food chains bestow us with microwaved goodies, check out what's new to the dining scene.
Here's the lowdown on October:
Restaurants Opening in October Tiff's Treats, 4980 Belt Line Road -- the cookie delivery service has warmed up to Addison. The Nodding Donkey, 2900 Thomas Ave. -- the newest addition to State-Thomas has been packed since its soft opening earlier this month. The Blue Goose Cantina, 9320 Dallas Parkway -- Frisco is home to the new branch of the Tex-Mex restaurant. Guy Harvey's Island Grill, 163 Fountain Court -- the fish fanatic's namesake eatery is now in Fairview. Bambu Thai, 1930 North Coit Road -- the owners of the now defunct Sushi Rock in Plano are now serving authentic Thai in Richardson. Screen Door Food Cart, 1722 Routh St. -- the One Arts Plaza restaurant debuted its food cart in the Plaza but plans on hitting the streets soon.
Restaurants Closing in October The Burger Spot, 9090 Skillman St. -- on Facebook, announced closure and hopes for new location. Burguesa Burger, 2222 Inwood Road -- the Downtown headquarters and Oak Cliff location are still open. Sweet Temptations Cafe, 9090 Skillman St. -- after 30 years of business, the Lake Highlands bakery and cafe shutters its doors this Saturday.
Coming Soon Honey Shack -- the breastaurant will soon take over the space left vacant by The Catalina Room. The Ketchup Bar -- a new Mediterranean-infused burger joint from the folks behind Farnatchi will open in Uptown by early December. Chop House Burgers -- Kenny Mills expects to debut his new restaurant by mid-November.
