Reality TV just got a little sweeter. To celebrate the September 15 debut of Bravo's Top Chef spinoff, Top Chef Just Desserts, OpenTable.com is offering free dessert with meals purchased at more than 30 restaurants in Dallas and Fort Worth. Make your reservation through the online service at one of the participating spots and you'll get one free dessert for every two diners at your table. This list shows at which meals the restaurants are offering the dessert freebie. Among them is Fort Worth's Brownstone Restaurant, where Casey Thompson, a Top Chef veteran, is pastry chef.
Top Chef: Just Desserts (10 p.m., Wednesdays) will follow the format of its predecessor. Twelve contestants will compete in a series of challenges, including the dreaded "quickfire." Winner gets $100,000 furnished by Godiva Chocolatier, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival and a 2011 Buick Regal.
Judging the contestants will be Top Chef host and judge Gail Simmons, famed French chef Hubert Keller, Restaurant Jean George's executive pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini and Dannielle Kyrillos, editor-at-large at DailyCandy.
The competing pastry makers include 37-year-old Morgan Wilson of Dallas, currently the Ritz-Carlton's executive pastry chef. Meet the rest of the cast here.
Small print warning: The free dessert offer cannot be combined with any other offer, event, discount or promotion. And not all restaurants on OpenTable are doing Free Dessert Day. You do still earn your usual OpenTable points on these reservations.
