Oddfellows restaurant and Dallas Odd Fellows Lodge #44 are hosting an Odd County Fair on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at 7th and Madison streets in the Bishop Arts District. The aim of the fair is to raise money for the Sunset High School marching band to make the trip to national band competition in Florida.

Oddly, Oddfellows resaturant is not associated with the Odd Fellows Lodge. Oddfellows owner Matt Spillers told me they just liked the name because of their own in-house dynamics. Odd Fellows Lodge #44 is a secretive co-ed fraternal organization whose mission is, according to their Facebook page, "Friendship, Love and Truth."

Back to the Odd County Fair: There will be lots of festivities, including a soap box derby, square dancing, a petting zoo, a pie-eating contest, food and, hopefully, an odd amount of hoopla. And the highlight of the fair most certainly will be a performance of the Sunset High School drum line.

Norma's pies will be there, as will LaGrange snow cones, and Oddfellows will be serving Niman Ranch hotdogs on Esmeralda's buns.
