- The Boardwalk in Granite Park, a development at the intersection of the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the Dallas North Tollway in Plano, has a new fast-casual "Southern home-style" concept: The Biscuit Bar, open for lunch and dinner daily, with breakfast coming in May. "Founded by husband and wife team Jake and Janie Burkett, The Biscuit Bar offers high quality scratch biscuits with a wide range of toppings," according to a release. "The concept was inspired by a New Year’s Eve spread of custom-made, DIY, biscuit bar sandwiches." The 2,223-square-foot restaurant also has a 1,303-square-foot patio overlooking the Boardwalk and the waterfront, and a menu full of items such as the Hoss, a biscuit topped with fried chicken, bacon, cheese, honey butter and sausage gravy. The Biscuit Bar is at 5880 State Highway 121 in Plano.
- Legacy Hall, the mega-food hall in Plano's Legacy West, just got a barbecue stand: Carlton Provisions BBQ Stall, which opened Monday. "A labor of love from Chili’s Founder Larry Lavine and Jordan Swim of Vestals Catering, Carlton Provisions will introduce an array of tasty barbecue creations such as oak-fired brisket, five-hour ribs and house-prepared sausage that are oh so good to the outdoor patio and entertainment venue. It is the only food stall that will be operating in the Box Garden, alongside five bars." The Box Garden is Legacy Hall's new "ultimate outdoor patio and entertainment venue constructed out of reclaimed shipping containers," with a 600-square-foot event stage and massive LED screen for hosting live music, screening sports, etc. The Box Garden's grand opening party is May 18, with Sarah Jaffe headlining.
- North Dallas is about to get a kosher barbecue joint and deli with a market. Kosher Palate, opens this summer at 7989 Belt Line Road, CultureMap reports. The restaurant comes from Howard Goldfeder, owner of catering company Texas Kosher BBQ. "Just imagine a typical New York Jewish deli where you go in and buy prepared foods and sandwiches," Goldfeder tells CultureMap. "You can sit down or take it to go. But we'll also carry the barbecue — the brisket, ribs, and chicken we've been doing, plus you can get a burger or fried chicken, and we'll experiment with other things. We want it to be kosher but we want to have a good time."
- Brooks and Bradley Anderson, the brothers behind Rapscallion, Boulevardier and Veritas Wine Room, are opening a new concept later this year at the Hillside Village development at the corner of Abrams Road and Mockingbird Lane: Hillside Tavern. Details have not yet been released about exactly what that concept entails, but the restaurant is one of several new tenants — including Session Pilates, Villa Nail Spa and The Little Things — coming to Hillside Village as part of a massive renovation.
