Starting tomorrow night, the Dallas Museum of Art will stay open until 9 p.m. for nine Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, or until July 30.
The event, called 9x9, includes artist discussions, performances, film screenings, "art-inspired cocktails" and small plates. Chef Coulter will prepare a new bill of fare each week, kicking off the event with three menus.
The first menu is one that's "inspired by the Arts of the Americas," and includes Texas blue crab cakes served with green chilie chutney and chipotle aioli. There is also a "menu inspired by the Arts of Europe," featuring beef bourguignon with caramelized pearl onions and red wine demi glace, and a "menu inspired by the Arts of Africa, Asia, and the Pacific" that includes bamboo coconut green curry marinated chicken. The "art-inspired" cocktails are the orange crimson, made from cranberry juice, Grand Mariner, soda and Fernet Branca, which will be featured Thursday.
Friday night's cocktail is the Bangkoki, made with Bombay gin, Cognac, Cointreau, fresh orange, lime and pineapple juice. And guests are invited to sip on homemade sangria Saturday night. Each tasting, which includes nine small plates, costs $23 per person with an advance reservation made online at dma.ticketleap.com. Walk-up tastings costs $29 per person. Drinks will be served in the Atrium Cafe from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and dining begins at 6 p.m. in Seventeen Seventeen.
