Usually when I'm done with a review I'm done with a restaurant. For one, there are a million places to eat and I have stories to write, but I'm also usually kinda tired of the place I've dipped in and out of several times and spent days thinking and writing about. The day after my review of Sissy's ran in the paper I did something I've never done before and most likely won't do again for a very long time: I went back to the restaurant and grabbed a seat at the bar.
I did not order an entire bucket, but I did order fried chicken. The decision might have bordered lunacy, but I offer it in evidence of the goodness that that is Sissy's crispy bird. I'm not saying it's the best in Dallas (it's expensive, and I've yet to go to Babe's), but if it can draw a critic in for a re-hash long after he's filed his copy, then it's definitely a worthy addition to our list of favorite dishes. Even while writing this, I'm tempted to return.
