No surprise that anyone who calls herself a "diva" would use the term "retail therapy" for what most of us call "shopping." The million-dollar spending sprees of notorious divas like Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson come to mind. So perhaps some wariness is understandable when talking about an event that includes the terms "retail therapy" and "Divaz"--complete with a street (and age-group marketing)-smart "Z" instead of a bookish "S."
But since the event takes place at Cliff Cafe, perhaps a suspension of skepticism would be in order. From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, The Oak Cliff Art Divaz present the "Recession-Busting Spring Retail Therapy Event." Offerings include original handmade precious and semi-precious jewelry, "modern urban chic" paintings and drawings, art quilts, purses and more.
