It's soups and suits this week in eater philanthropy. Read on.
The Event: Empty Bowls The Cause: North Texas Food Bank If you need a bowl or plans for lunch on Friday, multiply that with a good deed and attend the 12th annual Empty Bowls event, put on by Tom Thumb. From 11 a.m. to 1 at the Meyerson Symphony Center, attendees will get to sample soups and desserts from participating vendors while listening to music by Young Strings. When the last of the soup has been slurped away, guests will also select a bowl made by a local artisan to take home. Tickets are $40 and $35 in advance. Visit www.ntfb.org for tickets.
The Place: The Palm The Event: The Dress for Success Fundraising Event Thursday's event from 6 p.m.to 9 features a cocktail hour, silent auction and the chance to show off your mixology skills in a Vegas-style mixology contest. The $40 ticket covers the price of hors d'oeuvres, one drink and a mixology sampling. Buy your ticket at the door or RSVP here at their Facebook page.
It's $200 for you and three teammates to enter the mixology contest. Just bring the know-how -- The Palm will provide the ingredients and mixologists. Winner will name their concoction, plus get a prize and bragging rights.
