Driftwood Opens, Vapiano Closes and More From a Busy April for Dallas Restaurants

Last month was a busy one in the Dallas restaurant scene. Read on for the full slate of opening and closing restaurants, and be sure to share tips about restaurant openings or closings in the comments section below or at [email protected].

Openings:

Driftwood (642 W. Davis): Oak Cliff is home to a new "upscale-casual" seafood restaurant.

DaLat (2537 N. Fitzhugh): The new late-night pho spot, located in the old RedFork Tavern building on Fitzhugh, is open.

Carbone's Fine Food and Wine (4208 Oak Lawn): Julian Barsotti, chef and owner of Nonna, opened Carbone's Fine Food and Wine at The Shops of Highland Park.

Atomic Candy (105 W. Hickory): Denton's downtown square has a neat-o, new candy shop.

The Standard Pour (2900 McKinney): Uptown's latest "cocktail den" is open and pouring drinks on McKinney Avenue.

Southern Breeze Market Cafe (138 Olive): The cafe recently opened in Keller, and its menu offers home-style options like shrimp adn grits, baked mac and cheese and spinach and bacon quiche.

Torchy's Tacos (1008 W. McDermott) : The Austin-based taco joint has opened another location in Allen.

Closings:

Sushi Axiom (4123 Cedar Springs): Sushi Axiom, (formerly Fin Sushi), located on Cedar Springs closed its doors for good. The space will reopen as a Mexican restaurant.

Vapiano (5319 E. Mockingbird): The pizza joint at Mockingbird Station has closed.

McCormick & Schmick's: The McCormick & Schmick's located in North Park mall is closed, and will soon be replaced by a Seasons 52.

Coming soon:

Emporium Pies (314 N. Bishop): The pie shop is set to open this fall.

eatZi's: eatZi's is expanding and is adding two new locations.

Rusty Taco: Rusty Taco will take over the Main Street Garden Cafe space.
