Food Trucks And Beer Fests in 3, 2, 1: This Week In Dallas Grubbing

Ready for the weekend? You should be. With a massive food truck festival to the north, and a big ass beer festival to the west, there are lots of reasons to get out of the house this weekend. We should probably wrap up the week before we start drinking, though.

This week I reviewed nothing, opting instead to take a look at Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and the effect the show is having on some of our favorite food businesses.

Elsewhere on City of Ate, we got day drunk at Bolsa, ate mac and cheese at NHS Tavern and slurped a big bowl of beefy noodles at the Noodle House.

We also handed Good 2 Go taco a box, and they handed us our ass. So far every chef has beaten the box. Maybe Alice should stop up those quirky ingredients. Maybe the box is a pussy. Either way it's still fun to read.

Over on the Eats Blog, Leslie Brenner reviewed Central 214, awarding just two stars.

And on Pegasus Teresa Gubbins has an update on Social 121. A few months ago we reported that the restaurant ditched its chef and hired Christopher Short. Now they've ditched Short and opted for a bar driven concept with a casual snacking menu. It's not looking good for the Plano establishment.

The BBQ Snob caught some branding thieves. A party thrown by the Knights of Columbus apparently borrowed pretty heavily from Daniel Vaughn's website logo.

And the Escape Hatch has an update on Dee Lincoln's Bubbles Bar. The owner says she's tired of booze and bar snacks, and wants to get in touch with her fine dining roots. We'll see if her rebranding goes more smoothly than Social 121's.

Meanwhile Entree Dallas has a first look at Kor-BQ: a newish Plano Korean BBQ joint with some attractive looking tacos. It may be something to check out after the Food Truck Festival this weekend.
