Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival Announces Inaugural Event, Including $500 Ticket

Fort Worth is getting a highbrow food and wine event this spring. The four-day eating and drinking parade will start on March 27. The aim, other than to consume a lot, is to "infuse historic venues and homegrown flavor" with local chefs, wine makers, craft breweries and the like.

The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival (which doesn't appear to be related to the publiction Food & Wine) will kickoff at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Billy Bob's, where craft beers and wines will be served alongside local fare from 12 Fort Worth chefs including Jon Bonnell (Bonnell's & Waters), Terry Chandler (Fred's), Tim Love (Lonesome Dove), Molly McCook (Ellerbe Fine Foods) and Juan Rodriguez (Reata). Live music starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person.

A Grand Tasting is on Friday at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in Sundance Square from 7 to 10 p.m. for $125 per person. This large tasting will feature some 70 wineries, craft breweries, chefs and vendors.

The big-ticket item, however, will come courtesy of Dallas chef Dean Fearing at Bass Performance Hall for $500 a ticket. The meal and art "experience" will include an "epicurean stroll with a progressive lunch on the renowned Bass Performance Hall stage." There are only 150 seats for this event, which starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29.

If you're more inclined to keep it lowbrow, Burgers, Brews and Blues will host 26 breweries and 13 restaurants, all which will all be pushing out sliders. It will take place at the Edwards Ranch (5000 Clearfork Main S.) from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

For the wine purists, Sip + Savor will run during the day both Saturday and Sunday with more than 100 wineries on hand and small bites at the Renaissance in Sundance Square. Tickets are $75 per day.

Finally, on Sunday, food trucks will rally at the new Coyote Drive-In from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to benefit Meals on Wheels of Greater Tarrant County. Tickets are $50 for this event.

Tickets for all of the events have already gone on sale.
