We know you've been waiting for it. We've seen your tweets and Facebook posts stating that you've been dying to get your hands on them. And now it's here--it's the peak of the Hatch green chile season! We thought we would be helpful and recommend a few places at which chile lovers could celebrate the season.

Plano's Urban Crust is featuring their Hatch Green Chile pizza for the month of August.The specialty pizza is covered in roasted Hatch green chilies (of course), pepper jack cheeses, sliced sirloin, cilantro, queso fresco, and fried onions, and is available for $13.95 until the end of the month.

All of the Blue Mesa Grill locations are celebrating with their 14th Annual Hatch Chile Festival from now until the end of September. To that end, their restaurants now feature a special menu focusing on chile from Young Gun Farms in Hatch, New Mexico (considered the chile capitol of the world). Menu items include steak rellenos tacos, shrimp-Oaxaca cheese chile rellenos with a chipotle cream sauce, and stacked enchiladas with blue corn tortillas filled with melted cheese and New Mexican chile-pozole sauce. Blue Mesa will also hold a chile roasting on September 14, from 5-7 p.m., with samples to take home, and a complimentary tasting for a variety of rellenos; salsas; and Cazadores silver, reposado, and anejo tequila. Chuy's will also be joining the fun by holding their 22nd annual Green Chile Festival, which will kick off next Monday, August 30. The three-week festival will also feature a green chile-inspired menu with tilapia roja, roasted pork enchiladas, spinach queso, and Tinga chicken panchos. Patrons will also be treated to giveaways liked tie-dyed guitar picks, temporary tattoos and a commemorative buttons. You can visit www.chuys.com for more information on the event.


Also going on this week....

Sprinkles Cupcakes will be donating 100 percent of sales from their vanilla milk chocolate cupcakes all week, August 23-28, to the Hunger Busters' Feed the Need After School Program. The program was established in 2007, and helps to provide Dallas school children who participate in the subsidized breakfast and lunch meal plans with a nutritious third meal of the day. So, be a good person and buy a cupcake from Sprinkles this week.

Last week, Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas played host to the TexSom, an annual wine education conference. Well, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse's wine steward, Jason Huerta, won the title of Texas Best Sommelier. Huerta received a scholarship of $2,500 and round-trip airfare from the Guild of Sommerliers Education Foundation to be used for a Court of Master Sommerlier certification program.

White Rock Coffee will be hosting a grand opening of their second location this Thursday through Saturday, August 26-28. You can find the new location at Abrams Road at Mockingbird, where they will feature a double drive thru. During the grand opening events, White Rock Coffee will offer drink specials at both locations like $2 small lattes, brewed coffee and muffin combo, and $1 large ice tea.
