Haystack Burgers & Barely is moving into the Richardson Heights Shopping Center, just a couple doors down from the Alamo Drafthouse that is currently under construction. Owned and operated by Richardson locals Kevin and Jenny Glavan, along with Rob and Christine Wondoloski, Haystack will open in mid-April. It will have a "quirky, Southern vibe" and serve burgers, salads, sandwiches and craft beers. The exact menu isn't out yet, but we like to guess there will be stacks of hay-like ingredients served over burgers alongside barley.

Meanwhile Alamo Drafthouse continues to tease us with their painfully slow arrival to the Dallas area. A recent Facebook post touts a Lost in Translation event in Austin where they watch the Bill Murray film while sipping on Japanese whiskies. Get on with it, Alamo, we scream! Let's do this. And yet ... they don't expect to open until summer.

Both Alamo Drafthouse and Haystack Burgers & Barley mention they'll be hiring soon via their Facebook pages, should you be looking for a little extra summer money for your trip to the coast.

The number of independent upscale burger spots in Dallas continues to grow and there will probably always be room for more, but regardless of all that, it's a no-brainer to snatch real estate near the Austin-based quirky movie theater. Come summer time, that shopping area will be abuzz.
