Nick & Sam's Grill is hot. But since 2003, that same location has housed Martini Ranch, Stolik, Standard and Strong's Everyday Tavern. Or look at Lazare, opening in the Ferre/Pescabar spot. Or Five-Sixty...There are plenty of examples. But is the location or the concept at fault? And what overcomes the "jinx"?
Results from last week, in which we asked just what makes Primo's patio so popular. Some cleverness here, from TLS, who senses it has something to do with memory tricks: "Primo starts with P. Patio starts with P. Hey, they both end in O. And they both have two syllables."
We chose to agree with HT, however: "It's popular because it's popular. No one wants to go to an unpopular patio, no matter how nice the view or food."
Which sums it up nicely.
