Don Julio Tequila is doing their part to foster an appreciation and understanding for modern art by teaming up with Café Modern. It makes sense, really. So much of the modern art world gets panned by Joe Schmo, whose unimaginative, sober vision of what constitutes art can be summed up by an Albert Bierstadt painting. But plied with a bit of tequila, Joe may find that Twombly isn't so bad, after all. As part of this outreach effort, a four-course pairing dinner will be offered for $89 for non-museum members or $75 for members. The tequila-inspired menu features dishes such as shrimp sangrita, agave BBQ cabrito tamal, mole spice-rubbed steak and cinnamon horchata tres leches cake. For reservations, call 817-840-2157.

The Modern isn't the only museum to crack the "____ + booze = crowd pleaser" code. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is holding an after-hours event themed around mixology. Guests will learn about the history of beer and get to taste craft beer from Community Beer Company. There will also be a lesson on cocktail making, with a special emphasis on the science behind the booze. And to top it all off, fusion food, a Mixed Up dance demonstration with Essence of Motion and collaborative art making with Oil & Cotton are all on the agenda. The cost is $18 for non-members or $13 for members.

In what has got to be the most Homer Simpson-approved physical activity of all time, Hypnotic Donuts is holding their third annual 5k and 1-mile fun run this Saturday. For $35, adult 5kers get a free T-shirt, doughnuts and beer. The price drops to $25 if you just want to run the mile, thus maximizing doughnut calories consumed to calories burned.

Community Brewing Company is turning 2. To commemorate this happy occasion, they are throwing a big party with 25 beers, 11 beer stations, three live bands and a whole bunch of happy, drunk people. A ticket gets you eight 6-ounce pours and the obligatory commemorative glass.

FireWheel Brewing Co. is hosting its first Chili Challenge, where the only thing hotter than the chilis will be the competition they inspire. It's free to participate, but teams must bring their C-game and be able to make at least 2 gallons of chili on-site between noon and 4:15 on competition day. There will be beers on tap, should any teams wish to get their chili ingredients drunk (in fact, FireWheel will award extra points for this.)
