Ten Awesome Valentine's Food Events in Dallas This Weekend, February 12-15

Here it comes, ready or not. Valentine's Day is just around the corner, which means one of two things, food-wise. It's either A) time to start making reservations or B) time to stockpile TV dinners and Friskies. Just kidding. Singles can still go through the McDonald's drive-thru without fear of social condemnation.

For all of you who do have someone that loves you, we have compiled a list of food events that are sure to make you remember why you came together in the first place: having someone sentient to eat out with.

Can't afford two plane tickets to France? Or maybe you can, but you just don't like your date that much? Toulouse Café has got you covered. You'll feel like you're in the heart of Paris/Uptown at Toulouse, where the casual bistro ambience has a way of seeping into your pores and turning you into a pompous, baguette-eating, beret-wearing snail-eater. In addition to their regular menu, Toulouse will feature a special a la carte menu with items such as Massachusetts oysters, diver scallops ($32), soufflé au crab et Homard ($26) and lamb lollipops ($30).

Enjoy a special four course menu at Kitchen LTO. Choose from Chicken Fried Oyster Rockafeller, Barbecue Pulled Duck Slider Biscuit, Smoked Salmon Spread or Chicken Fried Lobster and Waffle for the first course. Second course options include Lobster Bisque, Iceberg Babies and Candied Butter Lettuce Salad (our hats go off to any establishment that manages to get both candy and butter into a salad.) The main course includes either Pan Seared Tenderloin, Chicken Fried Ribeye, Roasted Arctic Char or Braised Pork Shortrib. And if you're not too full, the dessert course includes such exciting options as Pink Chocolate Fondue and Maker's Mark Banana Pudding. The cost is $79 per person.

Henry's Majestic is offering a three-course dinner with two specialty cocktails for V-day. The first course consists of a shared appetizer of crab dip with crispy wontons and caviar, which will be served with a blood orange and champagne cocktail. Diners can then choose from the filet Wellington or scallops on barley risotto for second course. The third course will be lavender cake filled with huckleberry and creme Yvette anglaise and served with a Blue Berry Coco Fizz.

New romance? Get things off on the right foot by taking your date to a restaurant with "fear" in the title. Fearing's is offering a multi-course prix fixe menu in addition to their regular menu. The starter is Crispy Barbecued Oyster with Jonah Crab. The first course is Artichoke Bisque, the second course is Maine Lobster with House-Made Pasta and the third course is Bar N Ranch Wagyu Beef Strip Loin. The dessert course will feature a buttermilk-passion fruit cupcake and chocolate strawberry parfait with champagne cream.

Love is like a bottle of champagne. The bottle symbolizes the constrained nature of relationships and the uncorking of the bottle represents the inevitable, explosive end to that containment. Which is why Henderson Tap House's Champagne Brunch is such an appropriate choice for Valentine's. I'm not saying that all relationships are doomed to froth and fizzle in a rabies-like manner, but, you know, some are. Regardless of your relationship's future, though, I think this brunch will be a fun way to celebrate the present. For $50, you get reserved seating for two, two bottles of Champagne, two orange juice carafes, a choice of two brunch items and chocolate-covered strawberries. Enjoy it while it lasts (the brunch, I mean.)

Del Frisco's Valentine's Day special is an eight-ounce filet paired with an eight-ounce lobster tail for $79. Surf-n-turf is great and all, but my recommendation is to order either the bone-in filet or the Wagyu "long-bone" ribeye. If science has taught us nothing else, it is that the best way to get friendly time with a special someone is to order them a huge piece of red meat that subtly suggests an erection.

50 Shades of Grey's influence extends beyond the bedroom and into the kitchen at Pakpao, which will offer two special menus for Valentine's. The first, "Thai Me Up: 50 Shades of Grey," will feature ingredients which were spanked and then lightly gagged before being incorporated into dishes. Ahem. The menu includes the Thai Silk Cocktail, Hoi Obh ("Steamy" Mussels) Pad Kee Mow, "Drunk on Love" Drunken Noodles and Forbidden Rice with Pandan Panna Cotta.

The second menu consists of an amuse of Koi Pla of Tuna with rambutan, beet and Persian cucumber relish; Steamed Dumplings with a choice of Roasted Duck or Winter Squash filling; and a main course choice of Pan Seared Striped Bass or Roasted Cornish Hen. And for dessert? A Coconut Chocolate Truffle with passion fruit and sweet rice. Either menu costs $45 per person.

Stampede 66 will feature a three-course menu for Valentine's Day that's bound to either make you or break you as a couple. It will make you if you are willing to share. However, if you keep all that honey fried chicken to yourself, you may have to take a cab home. Other entrées include the gulf coast grouper, beef tenderloin "Oscar" and smoked pork ribs. The amuse will be seared scallop and first course dishes include oysters two ways, beef carpaccio and acorn squash. And oh, the desserts: Big Red float, butterscotch tart, chocolate velvet cheesecake and Texas sheet cake. The cost is $75 per person or $110 per person with wine pairings.

Is that love in the air? Nope. It's goat cheese. Granted, both love and goat cheese can have that whiff-o-ammonia, but in this case it really is just the cheese. Lavendou's three course Valentine's menu features starters such as crispy warm goat cheese with mixed baby greens, cream of brie soup and terrine with duck livers. Main course options include filet of Sole, beef tenderloin and braised lamb shank. The dessert menu includes mousse, cheesecake and mixed berries in pastry with Chantilly cream. The cost is $69.95 per person.

Okay, so this is a bit of a diversion from the whole "places to eat out" thing, but hear me out. Urban Acres is offering a class on fermenting things. Now, sauerkraut doesn't exactly scream "be mine!" but this is guaranteed to be a fun, informative class and I'm pretty sure you can bill this as pre-gaming Valentine's. Just tell your S.O. that you want to learn how to preserve cabbage, just like his/her love preserved your heart. See? It's all in the spin. (Just don't say anything about botulism -- that always ruins the mood.)

What it be: Fermenting 101 at Urban Acres Farmstead

When it do: Thursday, February 12 from 6:30 - 9 p.m.
